Little River State Beach Beachgrass Removal

Join dedicated locals and naturalists as they weed out encroaching European beachgrass, which has displaced native species for decades. The remediation is intended to help protect rare plants and animals, such as coastal wildflowers and Western Snowy Plovers.
To reach the beach, five miles north of McKinleyville on Hwy 101, take the Crannell Road exit and head west to the beach frontage road. It will be the first parking lot on your left. It is adjacent to the southbound HWY 101 entrance. Organized by the California State Park’s North Coast Redwoods District.
